Rick Ellingson, Senior Partner CPA

With more than 40 years of experience in public accounting, Rick has built a distinguished career rooted in integrity, precision, and client-centered service. As a Certified Public Accountant, he has guided individuals and businesses through the evolving landscape of financial regulations, tax law, and strategic planning. Throughout his career, Rick has specialized in tax planning and compliance for individuals and closely held businesses, financial statement preparation and assurance services, business consulting and entity structuring, and nonprofit accounting and regulatory compliance. Rick holds CPA licenses in Minnesota and South Dakota and is a proud member of the Minnesota Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, volunteering, golfing and traveling.

Patti Ellingson-Solhiem,
CPA, Partner

Patti approaches tax preparation and planning with empathy and grace, helping all her clients feel heard and supported through the many phases of life and business. She has a wide range of experience, including business, individual, estate, and trust tax preparation and advisory. Her current specialization is in strategic tax planning and preparation for clients with complex asset and income portfolios. Working with Patti feels like partnering with a trusted friend—someone who genuinely cares about your happiness, your peace of mind, and your financial wellbeing. Outside of work, Patti enjoys spending time with her family, including her children and grandchildren who all live in the Twin Cities area.

Jane Ehresmann,
CPA, Partner

Jane is a trusted advisor who brings clarity and confidence to every financial decision. With over 35 years of experience in public accounting, she specializes in individual and business tax strategy, including stock option planning and guiding clients through complex business sales. Jane’s approach is rooted in proactive communication and highly personalized strategies. She takes the time to understand each client’s unique goals, offering thoughtful, year-round guidance—not just during tax season—so they can make informed decisions with assurance and ease. Outside of work, Jane enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, staying active with pickleball, and recharging in Palm Springs each winter before the busy season begins.

Casey Malmgren, CPA

Casey is a graduate of St. Cloud State University, where he earned degrees in Accounting and Finance. He enjoys working closely with business owners, providing insight and guidance to help them achieve their financial goals. Known for his approachable style and commitment to client success, he brings both technical expertise and practical experience to every engagement. Outside of the office, Casey is a dedicated husband and father of two children, a boy and a girl, as well as two energetic dogs. He spends nearly all of his free time with his family, whether coaching his daughter’s T-ball team, fishing with his son, or enjoying weekends at the lake. When the kids’ schedules slow down, you can usually find him trying to sneak in a round of golf.

Mark Gasner, CPA

Mark strives to align a client’s financial goals with the tax plans and strategies implemented for each personalized situation. As a CPA and certified financial planner with over 8 years of tax advisory experience, he specializes in family legacy tax planning, from charitable giving strategies to trust tax planning. Mark believes that understanding a client’s values and goals is fundamental to building meaningful, long-term relationships. Outside of work, Mark enjoys time with his wife, daughter, and golden retriever – whether that be walks around the Minneapolis lakes or an evening stroll in the neighborhood.

Hannah Oestreich, CPA

Hannah brings a personal touch to tax planning, helping small businesses and individuals navigate complex financial decisions with clarity and confidence.  With over 7 years of experience in public accounting, she specializes in individual and business tax returns, tax planning, and small business consulting.  Hannah believes in proactive communication and tailoring strategies to each client’s goals, ensuring peace of mind year-round—not just at tax time.  Outside the office, Hannah enjoys running, biking, playing pickleball and spending time with her husband, Connor, and their golden retriever, Cheddar. 

Luke Mikiska, CPA

Luke is a Certified Public Accountant who holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He enjoys building strong client relationships and takes pride in helping individuals reach their financial goals. Outside of work, he spends most of his time with his wife, Maddie, and their golden retriever, Finn. Whether relaxing at the lake with family, fishing in the spring, or hunting in the fall, he makes the most of Minnesota’s great outdoors.

Lana Nelson,
Vice President of Operations

Lana leads the firm’s operations and client services with a refined focus on delivering a seamless, high-touch experience for every client. With a rich background in sales and operations across both global enterprises and boutique firms, Lana brings a strategic mindset and a personal touch to every engagement. Her approach is rooted in empathy, discretion, and a deep commitment to excellence—ensuring that each interaction reflects the firm’s dedication to service at the highest level. Outside of work, Lana enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, exploring the Twin Cities and beyond, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.

Riley Lovett

As the Office Manager, Riley is known for keeping the office running like clockwork. She takes just as much pride in brightening clients’ days as in maintaining seamless operations behind the scenes. With years of guest service experience, Riley thrives on connecting with clients and delivering a level of service that stands out. During office hours, she can be found behind the desk, answering phones, or assisting wherever needed. Riley earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma, driven by a deep passion for people. Outside of work, Riley enjoys exploring Minnesota’s many lakes, spending time with friends and family, and relaxing with her cat.

Cherie Jusczak

Cherie has worked for Ellingson & Ellingson for over 35 years in the areas of Office Administration, Payroll, Small Business Bookkeeping and Tax Preparation.  Cherie enjoys flower gardening and weekends at the lake.

Dawn Lindquist

Dawn is a bookkeeper working with small businesses and specializing in the use of QuickBooks. Dawn enjoys building relationships with her clients and helping owners to stay on top of the day-to-day information that supports their business. In addition, Dawn works with the Operations team to build culture and community at Ellingson through event planning and coordinating volunteer opportunities.  Dawn lives in Minneapolis with her husband and two daughters. In her spare time, she loves traveling, being at the cabin with family, and diving into a good book. 

Courtney Edwards

Courtney serves as an Operations guru at Ellingson, specializing in document intake, organization of clients’ physical data, and scanning information. Courtney holds her bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma, as well as her master’s in Trumpet Performance from the University of Minnesota. Her primary focus is in client satisfaction and hospitality, which fuels her passion for creating interpersonal relationships with clients. Outside of Ellingson, Courtney can be found teaching trumpet lessons in the Edina area, feeding treats to her cat, and supporting her favorite Oklahoma sports teams!

Tax Advisor – CPA Firm

Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Senior Tax Advisor to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in tax compliance and advisory, who is eager to deepen their technical expertise and build lasting client relationships. You’ll work closely with clients across various industries, providing strategic tax planning and compliance services.

Must Have

  • 3+ years of tax experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department
  • CPA license or EA License
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated initiative and a growth mindset
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality client service

Nice to Have

  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess Tax, QuickBooks, and SurePrep
  • Exposure to a variety of entity types (S-corps, partnerships, trusts, etc.)
  • Interest in business development and expanding client relationships
  • Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior staff
  • Familiarity with advisory services such as tax planning, succession planning, or M&A support
